Dr. Barry L. Eppley is one of Indiana's most extensively trained and unique plastic surgeons. Dr. Eppley received a Doctor of Medicine degree from Washington University in St. Louis, as well as, a Doctor of Dental Medicine degree from the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia. Dr. Eppley completed training in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at Barnes Hospital and St. John's Mercy Medical Center Hospital while in St. Louis. He furthered his training in General Surgery, Craniofacial and Cleft Surgery, as well as, full training in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at Indiana University. As a result of this education, Dr. Eppley is both a licensed physician and dentist and board certified in the specialties of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, as well as, Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. This background brings a diverse experience and perspective to the requirements needed for craniofacial, maxillofacial, facial plastic, and body plastic surgeries.

Eppley is a former member of University Plastic Surgeons
which is based on the campus of Indiana University
School of Medicine.
He was a full-time faculty member of the Medical School
where he had achieved the distinguished status of a
full Professor of Plastic Surgery.
He spent the past 15 years educating surgeons, as well as,
performing thousands of life-changing procedures
throughout the Clarian Health Systems. He was a
principal in the Craniofacial and Cleft Program at the
Riley Hospital for Children, one of North America's
largest children's hospitals and most active centers for
the surgical treatment of facial deformities from birth
defects, trauma, and cancer. As of October 2006, Dr.
Eppley left the University to bring his wealth of
experience to private practice.
Dr. Eppley has prominent international experience in the investigation and development of numerous technologic advances in plastic surgery. He has an extensive history of research experience and in various aspects of bone and soft tissue healing. He has been the recipient of numerous National Institute of Health and private corporate research grants for the evaluation of promising surgical technologies. As a result, he has been awarded ten U.S. and international patents on biomedical technologies. His research and clinical efforts have resulted in a large number of contributions to the surgical literature with over 250 journal articles and 35 book chapters. He has authored two textbooks entitled 'Maxillofacial Trauma and Esthetic Reconstruction' (2005), 'Essentials of Maxillofacial Surgery' (2006), and 'Musculoskeletal Tissue Regeneration: Biologic Methods and Materials (2007). He is a nationally and internationally sought after speaker on numerous plastic and maxillofacial surgery topics and has lectured on four continents and 28 countries with over 300 presentations.
Dr. Eppley is the founder of OLOGY, an innovative hospital-based spa concept located at Clarian West Medical Center in Avon and Clarian North Medical Center in Carmel.
